Ottawa Gee-Gees offensive lineman James du Manoir, a former St. Mary Catholic Secondary School football player in Cobourg, recently earned a 2021 East-West Bowl roster recognition.
There is no East-West game this year for the Canadian university players, but the 110 U Sports-eligible standouts recognized are considered top prospects for the 2022 Canadian Football League draft.
“For the next year, players from both squads will vie for coveted spots on the CFL Scouting Bureau Top 20 Prospects List – published in the Fall, Winter and Spring – before showcasing their skills through virtual or in-person regional and national combines in advance of the Draft this time next year,” noted a joint announcement from U Sports and the CFL on May 12.
Following graduation from St. Mary in 2017, du Manoir began his university football career at Queen’s University in Kingston, but transferred the following year to the University of Ottawa where he is studying criminology.According to an announcement from the Gee-Gees, du Manoir “was a stalwart on the Ottawa offensive line in 2019, starting all nine regular season and playoff games at left tackle,” adding he quickly became a consistent rotational lineman in his first season with the team following his transfer. “Over the course of his two seasons, du Manior has shown strong versatility and durability playing at both tackle and guard in each of the Gee-Gees’ games in the 2018 and 2019 season.”
