Lowry named MAC rookie of the year

Cobourg’s Mac Lowry had a strong first season of NCAA Division III hockey and was rewarded for his efforts.

Playing for the Stevenson University Mustangs in Owings Mills, Maryland, Lowry was named the Rookie of the Year for the All-Middle Athletic Conference (MAC).

Lowry led the Mustangs with 10 goals and 17 points and was third on the team in assists (7). He also shared the team lead with four power-play goals and three game-winning goals.

The former five-year Cobourg Cougars forward tied for fourth in the United Collegiate Hockey Conference (UCHC) with 1.56 points per game and tied for third with seven goals.

Lowry ranked seventh in points-per-game amongst rookies and totaled six multi-point games, including three multi-point games, this season.

Stevenson finished the 2021 season with a 12-3-1 record, including 2-0-1 against MAC opponents and advanced to their first UCHC title game.
