Today is the second day of my Olympic audio interview series for JG Sports Media.
My guest today is a CBC broadcaster who has been to 14 Olympics…Scott Russell. He also hosts shows that cover these athletes competing in the years leading up to the Olympics.
In this interview, we chat about why Scott enjoys covering these athletes, some of his favourite Olympic memories from both before he was a broadcaster as well as while covering the Games, the challenge of covering a variety of events, working as an Olympic television host, the stories that are created and engage people, what he thinks the year delay means for the athletes, what the Olympics might look like a year from now and which athletes Canadians should watch for at the next Games who maybe they aren’t as familiar with yet.

NOTE: While we wait for local sports to return following the COVID-19 pandemic, a big part of JG Sports Media’s website content will be audio interviews, like this one. Guests will include representatives from local sports organizations as well as other notable guests, many who have ties to this area and even some who don’t.
This Olympic series will run from July 24 until Aug. 9.
