Cobourg Cougars sign forward Calem Mangone

The Cobourg Cougars have announced the signing of forward Calem Mangone from Sault Ste. Marie.

Mangone, from the Soo Jr. Greyhounds minor hockey program, was selected second overall by the Saginaw Spirit on June 9 during the Ontario Hockey League U18 draft.

“We are beyond excited to have received a commitment from Calum,” stated Cougars head coach and assistant general manager Wes Wolfe in a release.

“His skill, creativity and vision are the first things you notice, but what sets him apart from his peers is his competitive spirit and work ethic. It is obvious how committed Calem is to achieving his goals by the amount of passion and positivity he brings to his approach. He is an impressive young man.”

Mangone registered 13 goals and 11 assists in 27 games as captain for the Soo Jr. Greyhounds U16 team during the 2019-20 season. He was with the U18 Jr. Greyhounds this past season.
