AUDIO: Nationwide Lacrosse offering training sessions; interview with Turner Evans

JG Sports Media’s latest audio interview guest is a professional lacrosse player and co-owner of Nationwide Lacrosse…Turner Evans.

Nationwide Lacrosse, based in Peterborough, is offering Northumberland Small Group Elite Lacrosse Sessions beginning Aug. 26 at the Town Park field in Port Hope.

The five one-and-a-half hour sessions will be led by Turner Evans, who runs Nationwide Lacrosse with his cousin Shawn Evans. They have helped teach the sport to elementary students in schools around Northumberland County.

Turner Evans, who played NCAA lacrosse for Ohio State University, competes now in the National Lacrosse League for the Rochester Knighthawks and Major Series Lacrosse for the Peterborough Lakers.

Training for these Northumberland sessions in Port Hope is modelled after NCAA and professional lacrosse training, including skill work, stick work and foot work.

Cost is $115 plus HST for the five sessions. The 2007-2009 age groups will be on the field from 4 to 5:30 p.m. for each of the Wednesdays while the 2010-2012 groups will follow from 5:30 to 7 p.m.

NOTE: While we wait for local sports to return following the COVID-19 pandemic, a big part of JG Sports Media’s website content will be audio interviews, like this one.

Guests will include representatives from local sports organizations as well as other notable guests, many who have ties to this area and even some who don’t.
