Day 5 of my Olympic audio interview series features a retired swimmer who competed at two Olympic Games…Martha McCabe.
In this interview, our discussion includes how Martha developed her love of swimming at a young age, how she realized the Olympics were an attainable goal, her success in the 200-metre breaststroke, her fifth-place finish in London in 2012 and why the 2016 Games in Rio didn’t go as well.
She learned, though, to appreciate the accomplishments and the experiences. We also talk about Head-to-Head, the program she founded that provides mentorship to youth.

NOTE: While we wait for local sports to return following the COVID-19 pandemic, a big part of JG Sports Media’s website content will be audio interviews, like this one. Guests will include representatives from local sports organizations as well as other notable guests, many who have ties to this area and even some who don’t.
This Olympic series will run from July 24 until Aug. 9.
